Join ECF's Narratives for Europe contributors at the Writers Unlimited Winternachten Festival!

Ece Temelkuran, David van Reybrouck and Rodaan Al Galidi will attend the Writers Unlimited Winternachten Festival 2013.
From January 17 to 20, 2013, writers, poets, thinkers and musicians from all parts of the world will come together at the Writers Unlimited Winternachten Festival The Hague to engage with their audiences. There, they will share their work, experiences, dreams and ideas, crossing the borders of languages and cultures.

Three contributors to ECF’s Narratives for Europe platform will be guest speakers at this year’s edition of the Writers Unlimited Winternachten Festival: Ece Temelkuran (writer, journalist), David van Reybrouck (writer, activist) and Rodaan Al Galidi (poet, writer)

Their presence highlights what thematically connects ECF with Writers Unlimited. We share a drive to contribute to a renewed (democratic) understanding of our contemporary societies in a global context by connecting and juxtaposing visions from around the world. This topic is strongly embedded in this year’s theme of the Writers Unlimited Winternachten Festival:Wanna know a secret?’. Together, we will further pursue this theme with selected shared actions throughout 2013.

ECF and Writers Unlimited will also be enriched by their complementary geographical and topical approach. ECF has a proven knowledge of the European cultural and policy field with a network that covers Europe and its neighbouring countries. Writers Unlimited builds on a large and influential network of international writers whose reflections and writings explore our contemporary societies.

Our first common action is to invite you to the Writers Unlimited Winternachten Festival to enjoy the range of perspectives that will be gathered at The Hague between 17 and 20 January 2013.

Guests include: Syrian journalist Samar Yazbek, who will receive the Oxfam Novib/PEN Award as part of the Writers Unlimited Winternachten 2013 for her work covering the brutal violence against demonstrating citizens in her country, Israel’s leading writer Amos Oz and, of course, Ece Temelkuran, Rodaan Al Galidi and David van Reybrouck. The three will act as speakers in several programmes, such as Around the World with Umar Mirza and Forget it on Friday 18 January.
