On the occasion of the Brussels Book Fair, 9-13 March 2017, the European Commission awaits you at its stand, located at Tour & Taxis, Hall 1, Stand 113. There, the European institutions will engage the general public by promoting Europe, explaining the role of the Council of the European Union and discussing the diversity of the European culture and the circulation of literary works through the European Union Prize for Literature. Several debates and conferences are scheduled to take place throughout the five days of the Fair, so join us on the "Place de l'Europe", directly opposite of the EU stand.
At 3:30 pm on Monday 13th, we will focus on "L’Europe littéraire, utopie ou réalité? La traduction d’auteurs EUPL, de nouvelles voix lues en Europe" (Literary Europe, utopia or reality? Translating EUPL authors, new voices in Europe). The panel will feature Barbara Gessler, Head of Unit for the Creative Europe programme, from the DG Education and Culture of the European Commission, Gast Groeber, Luxembourgish EUPL winner in 2016, Jacques De Decker, President of the EUPL Belgian jury in 2013 and Perpetual Secretary of the Royal Academy of French Language and Literature of Belgium, as well as Françoise Wuilmart, literary translator and Director of the European Centre for Literary Translation, and will be moderated by FEP Director Anne Bergman.
