On the occasion of the European Literature Festival held in Tokyo from 22-25 November, Lidija Dimkovska (FYROM, 2013), Adam Foulds (UK, 2011), Jasmin B. Frelih (Slovenia, 2016) and Walid Nabhan (2017, Malta) were invited to present their respective literary works and to take part in a panel discussion where they were joined by EUPL 2012 Irish laureate Kevin Barry.
Following their participation to the festival, the 4 EUPL winning authors got the unique opportunity to participate in a residency programme for a whole week in Naha, Okinawa.
Organised by the CRICAO organisation, the Creative Europe Programme, the EU Delegation in Japan and the cultural diplomacy platform, the residency programme offered our winners a memorable experience. Introduced to the inhabitants of Okinawa, they also learned about the Island history, as well as its contemporary problems and cultures. No doubt, they will write and share about this experience.
A picture diary of the winners' adventures in Japan will soon be available on Facebook.
