1 July - Historical fiction: Spothlighting the novels of Ioana Pârvulescu, Gaëlle Josse and Osvalds Zebris, our third book club focused around historical fictions. 27 May - Family and relationships: Our second book club meeting spotlighted relationships and family. We looked at the EUPL winning novels from Benetict Wells, Christophe van Gerrewey and Karen Gillece, then had a nice discussion with Chistophe about his book and writing career. Missed our talk? 22 April - Dystopian fiction: Our first session about dystopian fiction took place on Wednesday, 22 April, 7pm. We were joined by our three winning authors Jasmin B. EUPL writers on the occasion of the World Refugee Day
Ahead of the World Refugee Day on 20 June, EUPL spoke with Walid Nabhan (Malta, 2017) and Giovanni Dozzini (Italy, 2019) highlighting topics of displacement, identity, and the role of literature in raising awareness to the challenges refugees and displaced people face globally. Online Masterclass with Ciler Ilhan's: ReadAct
In this EU Prize for Literature digital masterclass, Çiler İlhan, the Turkish laureate of the EUPL in 2011, introduced us to ReadAct, a practice that she describes as "a unique way of reading", at the crossroad of reading and acting. During the hour-long session, İlhan read excerpts from her EUPL-awarded book "Exile" while teaching how to improve speaking skills and enrich storytelling experience for participants.

EUPL and Europe Day
Ahead of Europe Day on Saturday, 9 May, we spoke with three EUPL winners: Gast Groeber, our 2016 winner from Luxembourg, Haska Shyyan, our 2019 winner from Ukraine, and Immanuel Mifsud, our 2011 winner from Malta. During out talk, we explored how our winning authors experience the linguistic and cultural landscape in Europe, discussed how EUPL helped them overcome potential barriers to reach wider audiences, and spoke about the current pandemic and how that might have influenced their writing and thinking about global world.
