European Union Prize for Literature celebrates the 2022 nominees in a dedicated event

On the evening of 6 December, the European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) honoured all the authors nominated for the 2022 edition during a celebratory event, which took place at Flagey culture house in Brussels, Belgium. The event took attendees on a journey through the literary works of the nominated authors, highlighting the diversity of European literature, as well as its linguistic richness. The authors, divided into 4 thematic groups, presented their work to the audience, reading excerpts from their nominated books in their mother tongue.

Kristian Bang Foss, Jana Beňová and Ina Vultchanova at the Krakow Book Fair

On 28-29 October, three authors whose EUPL-awarded books have been translated into Polish participated in events at the Krakow Book Fair. Jana Beňová (Slovakia, EUPL 2012) talked about ‘Café Hyena’, published in Polish in 2015 by Nisza. Kristian Bang Foss (Denmark, EUPL 2013) presented ‘Døden kører Audi’ (Death Drives An Audi), recently published in Polish (June 2022) by Marpress.

EUPL at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2022

The Frankfurt Book Fair 2022 was an opportunity to distribute our anthologies and to present our winner and five special mentions during an event in the centrally located venue of the Frankfurt Pavilion. Iva Pezuashvili (Georgia - winner) shared the stage with Gaea Schoeters (Belgium) and Jacobo Bergareche (Spain), while Slađana Nina Perković (Bosnia Herzegovina), Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin (Ireland) and Eugenia Kuznetsova (Ukraine) were present virtually. The event was moderated by the director of the Federation of European Publishers, Anne Bergman-Tahon.
