EUPL at Feria Internacional del Libro de Bogotá (FILbo)

EUPL winners Dulce Maria Cardoso (Portugal), Afonso Cruz (Portugal) Raquel Martínez-Gómez (Spain) will participate in an event that explores the role of literature in Europe in the face of new political challenges. Today, Europe is mired in a debate about its future which is being drawn ever more towards  the political forefront in advance of the EU Parliamentary Elections in May. Rising populist movements question European values while new proposals emerge aiming to revitalize the European project. The event will thus explore such developments from a literary point of view.

EUPL Digital Masterclass - ReadAct with Ciler Ilhan

In this first EU Prize for Literature digital masterclass, Ciler İlhan, the Turkish laureate of the prize in 2011, will introduce you to ReadAct, a practice that she describes as "a unique way of reading", at the crossroad of reading and acting.

During the hour-long session, İlhan will ReadAct excerpts from her EUPL-awarded book "Exile" while teaching you how to improve your speaking skills and enrich your storytelling experience.

Beqa Adamashvili at Writers' House of Georgia, Tbilisi, Georgia

On Tuesday, 26 November 2019, EUPL laureate Beqa Adamashvili will participate in a very unique event for lovers of literature and puzzles hosted by the Writers' House of Georgia in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. Participants will have an opportunity to compete in solving a series of puzzles and win a surprise reward.

The event will also feature a discussion of Beqa Adamashvili's prize-winning novel ამ რომანში ყველა კვდება ("Everybody Dies In This Novel").

EUPL laureates at Sofia Book Fair 2021

Four EUPL laureates will take part in the International Literary Festival of Sofia these coming 7 to 12 December. As the festival will be held online, all talks will be accessible to watch via a livestream on the fair's Facebook page.

Digital EUPL book club: mystery novels

Our next book club discussion will revolve around mystery fiction, where we will dive into the world’s created by our authors and explore the secrets they hide. Our next chat will be hosted on 28 October from 4pm onwards

EUPL at Balkan Trafik festival / Bozar, Brussels

On 25 April 2019, at Brussels’ Bozar, from 8pm, EUPL winners Jelena Lengold (Serbia), Faruk Šehić (Bosnia) and Lada Žigo (Croatia) will join Slovenian author Suzana Tratnik for a literary discussion on whether and how the idea of being ‘formerly Yugoslavian’ affects their work. This event is part of the programme for Balkan Trafik 2019, a festival which for the past 12 years has highlighted the cultural richness and diversity of the Balkan nations as well as their relationship with Brussels.

Matthias Nawrat and Magdalena Parys for Goethe Institute/Krakow Book Fair

A few days ago, Matthias Nawrat (Germany, 2020) and Magdalena Parys (Poland, 2015) met in the buch|bund bookshop of Berlin to discuss their books and experiences as European writers.
