On 26 July, Sumari Raamatukohvik (Sumari Book Café) of Muhu will host the writer Mudlum (Made Luiga). She will be speaking about her newest book “Poola poisid” (Polish Boys).
In 2017, Mudlum was awarded the Friedebert Tuglas Award for her short story “Ilma alguse, ilma lõputa” (Without a Beginning, Without an End). This year, Polish Boys won Mudlum the annual award of the Estonian Cultural Endowment and the European Union Prize for Literature for Estonia.
EUPL 2017 laureate Bianca Bellova from Czech Republic will present 'El lago', the Spanish translation of her EUPL winning book Jezero (2016) in the bookshop Amapolas en octubre in Madrid.
The event is co-organized by the Czech Cultral Centre of Madrid, the publishing house Tres Hermanas, the bookshop Amapolas en octubre, and the Czech Leteray Centre.

EUPL winners Dulce Maria Cardoso (Portugal), Afonso Cruz (Portugal) Raquel Martínez-Gómez (Spain) will participate in an event that explores the role of literature in Europe in the face of new political challenges. Today, Europe is mired in a debate about its future which is being drawn ever more towards the political forefront in advance of the EU Parliamentary Elections in May. Rising populist movements question European values while new proposals emerge aiming to revitalize the European project. The event will thus explore such developments from a literary point of view.
On 15 April at 7PM UK time, our laureates Evie Wyld (UK 2014) and Bianca Bellová (Czech Republic 2017) will do a Q&A with the female-led online book club Women's Writes.

On 25 April 2019, at Brussels’ Bozar, from 8pm, EUPL winners Jelena Lengold (Serbia), Faruk Šehić (Bosnia) and Lada Žigo (Croatia) will join Slovenian author Suzana Tratnik for a literary discussion on whether and how the idea of being ‘formerly Yugoslavian’ affects their work. This event is part of the programme for Balkan Trafik 2019, a festival which for the past 12 years has highlighted the cultural richness and diversity of the Balkan nations as well as their relationship with Brussels.
On February 6th, 2020, EUPL 2013 laureate Isabelle Wéry (Belgium) will have "carte blanche" at theatre Le140 in Brussels. The actress, playwright and novelist invited EUPL winners David Machado (Portugal 2015), Gabriela Babnik (Slovenia 2013) and Carolina Schutti (Austria 2015) for a literary and musical evening. The four authors will gather around belgian philosopher and writer Laurent de Sutter to discuss the stories we write in Europe, how they differ or not from one place to another and what brings us all together.
On Wednesday, 24 April 2019, from 7pm, in the coastal city of Koper, Slovenia at Knjigarna Libris, EUPL laureates Selja Ahava (FI), Lidija Dimkovska (MK) and Jasmin B. Frelih (SI) will discuss their lives as authors and the impact that translation has had on their literary prominence in the wake of winning the EUPL.
The European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) has the pleasure of inviting you to the Frankfurter Pavilion at the Frankfurt Buchmesse on Friday, 18 October 2019.
The 2019 EUPL winners Haska Shyyan (Ukraine), Nikos Chryssos (Greece) and Beqa Adamashvili (Georgia) will take part in a panel and discuss their writing, winning the EUPL and the importance of the EUPL in encouraging the development of European literature.
The event will be moderated by the German author Lena Falkenhagen.
As part of the festival EUROPALIA Romania 2019, on 13 November 2019, a debate on Migration / Multilingualism will take place at the House of European History (Brussels, Belgium) in collaboration with The European Union Prize for Literature. Writers Tatiana Tibuleac who received this year European Union Prize for Literature 2019, and Claudiu Florian, who was also awarded the same prize in 2016, will participate in this encounter, moderated by Anne Bergman-Tahon, director of the Federation of European Publishers.
